Dental services are provided by Dentists, specialist Dentists and other members of the dental team (Dental Assistants, Hygienists, and Therapists) in private practices, hospitals and community settings. Other technical dentistry services are provided by Prosthetists and teams of Dental Technicians in dental laboratories.

Specialist Dentist Jobs

Specialist Dentists have undertaken additional training in an area of dentistry. Specialisations include - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Public Health Dentistry, and Dental Radiology. Specialist Dentists usually work in secondary care settings in hospitals and private practices. They need to complete an accredited program of post graduate study (a Master or Doctor degree, or fellowship), and register as a Specialist Dentist with the Dental Board of Australia. Oral and maxillo-facial surgery is a specialty recognised by both the Dental Board and the Medical Board of Australia.
